Amputation is a surgical removal of a limb or part of a limb that is no longer viable due to severe trauma, infection, poor blood flow, or malignancy. Our approach ensures functional outcomes with a focus on rehabilitation and prosthesis fitting.
Indications for Amputation
- Critical limb ischemia with non-reconstructable vessels
- Severe infections such as gangrene or osteomyelitis
- Non-healing diabetic foot ulcers
- Traumatic injury with irreparable damage
- Malignant tumors of the extremities
Types of Amputation Performed
Below Knee Amputation
Preserves the knee joint for better mobility and prosthetic support.
Above Knee Amputation
Performed when the lower limb is extensively affected above the knee level.
Transmetatarsal / Transtarsal Amputation
Partial foot amputations for limited gangrene or ulceration in the forefoot.
